Kinvergent Fiber Cables

While speed and bandwidth requirements are growing exponentially, budgets to accommodate this growth are not. That’s why it’s imperative to have an infrastructure that can adapt and scale, eliminating costly rip and replace projects when new technologies emerge.

You can rely on Kinvergent to strategically position your infrastructure to meet those growing demands. With a manufacturer agnostic approach, Kinvergent takes the best of one or several manufacturers to deliver an infrastructure that’s simple to manage, easily accommodates new technologies, exceeds performance requirements, and fits within your budget.

We support all the major manufacturers (see product line card for complete list), so it’s not our intent to recreate all of their product pages on our website. Instead please consider us your personal search engine for connectivity. Engage our experienced team when you have a requirement and we’ll propose multiple solutions based on your criteria.

With quality, performance, and value in mind, we developed the Kinvergent Elite Series line of copper and fiber cables to meet the critical demands of the most advanced data centers, while including innovative designs and user-friendly features that make them an ideal component for hyper-dense racks, network closets and everyday use.

High-Density MPO/MTP Fiber Solutions for 10G, 40G, and 100G

What is MPO/MTP?

MPO is a Multifiber Push-On connector defined by IEC-61754-7 and TIA-604-5-D, also known as FOCIS 5. When this factory-terminated 12 or 24 fiber connector is combined with a small diameter ribbon or round cable, extreme density and ease of deployment become the new normal.

The MPO connector can be male or female. They are visibly recognizable by the inclusion of alignment pins (male) or lack there of (female).

MTP is a type of MPO connector patented and made by US Conec that includes mechanical and performance enhancements, but remain 100% compatible with each other.

General Rules for Polarity and Gender

  1. Use the same type of patch cable in your network closets and data centers to eliminate polarity confusion. For example, the most common for LC-LC duplex is a Type A to B crossover (maps Tx to Rx ports)
  2. MPO/MTP connectors should always mate Male to Female for the lowest loss
  3. Active equipment is always pinned Male, so MPO/MTP patch cables should always be Female to Female to avoid damage
  4. Cassettes are typically made with Male MPO/MTP connectors
  5. Trunk cables between cassettes should be Female to Female and use Polarity C. This keeps the cassettes the same on both ends and allows the use of standard patch cables to your equipment

NOTE: There can be exceptions to these rules depending on your current infrastructure and future initiatives, so we encourage you to contact one of our engineers to confirm your exact installation requirements.
